As a dedicated therapist passionate about adolescent mental health, I am committed to fostering a supportive and empowering environment for young individuals. This commitment is at the core of my therapeutic approach. I strive to help my clients navigate challenges, build resilience, and discover their strengths. My therapeutic approach promotes mental health awareness and advocacy, ensuring every adolescent feels heard, valued, and understood. Together, we can embark on a journey of growth, healing, and self-discovery.
With a Master of Science in Social Work with a mental health concentration from the University of Louisville and a Bachelor of Social Work from Murray State University, I bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to my practice. As a licensed social worker (LSW) in Illinois, I am well-equipped to address the unique challenges faced by adolescents, teens, and college-age individuals.
I am trained and certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), an evidence-based treatment designed to address the mental health needs of children, adolescents, and families impacted by trauma. This specialized training has strengthened my ability to help youth experiencing post-traumatic stress, mood disorders, and grief resulting from sexual abuse, physical abuse, violence, or loss.
TF-CBT treatment integrates core features such as:
- Psychoeducation - to normalize trauma responses and reduce guilt.
- Coping skills - like relaxation, mindfulness, and cognitive redirection.
- Gradual exposure - to safely process traumatic memories and reduce distress.
- Cognitive processing - to reframe unhelpful thoughts and regulate emotions.
- Caregiver involvement - to rebuild trust and equip parents/caregivers as resources.
The goal of this treatment is to help children and adolescents feel safe, supported, and empowered, while also giving caregivers the confidence to foster healing and resilience.
